You arrive, we welcome your group, explain the rules and help you gear up. Then you put on a VR headset and step into the game: you move through a real arena while the headset shows you a virtual world. You walk, interact with objects and complete missions together as a team. No VR experience needed — we calmly explain everything before you start.

The minimum age is 6 — no exceptions. Some games have their own ratings: certain adventures suit ages 6+, others 10+ or 12+. Pick the game by the players' ages when booking; if in doubt, write to us — we'll help you choose.

Yes, and we do it all the time. You book a private VR session and add the party room: first the game, then the party in a room with furniture, a mini-kitchen, a TV zone, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. We host birthdays for kids, teens and adults.

Yes, as long as the rules are followed. Play starts at age 6, there's a safe-movement briefing before the game, and an operator stays nearby for the whole session. Any player can take off the headset and step out at any moment. We play without shoes, in anti-slip socks. Kids under 12 play accompanied by an adult. If your child has a health condition, talk to your doctor and write to us before the visit.

The price depends on the format, duration and number of players. In group games the price is per person; the minimum group is 2 players. Single VR starts at €20. Kids' birthday parties come as fixed packages from €240. The full price table is on the prices page and at online checkout.

Whichever way is easiest:

All sessions are private and we prepare the arena in advance, so it's best to book early — especially for weekends, birthdays and groups.

For regular VR sessions:

  • more than 72 hours before the start — full refund;
  • 24–72 hours — 50% refund;
  • less than 24 hours or no-show — 100% retained;
  • rescheduling — at the venue's discretion, usually with 24 hours' notice.

Private events and parties have their own terms — see the "Birthdays & events" section.

How free-roam VR works, ages, players per game, languages and what you get afterwards — start here

Yes. Free-roam VR is about being physically present in a virtual world, not about gamer skills: the controls are intuitive, and most of our guests aren't gamers. The team explains everything from scratch, at your group's pace.

The arena takes up to 32 people at once. One game holds up to 20 players; if there are more of you, we split into two teams and run a mini-tournament — it gets more competitive, and while some play, the rest follow the score. An odd number of players is no problem. Groups over 32 become an event format with rotation — write to us and we'll build the programme. In VEX Adventure, up to 6 players per game.

Of course. For one guest there's the Single VR format: 25 minutes for €20 or 50 minutes for €25. But it's always more fun together: group games start from 2 players — bring company.

No. Calmer family adventures run from age 6; the more intense action games are rated 10+ or 12+. The age is listed on each game's page — if in doubt, ask us before booking and we'll match the game to your youngest player.

Yes, every session is private: your group plays without strangers. It's more comfortable for families, groups of friends and corporate teams.

Yes — it's one of our favourite scenarios: we have games built for mixed-age groups. Tell us the kids' ages and how much action you want, and we'll pick the game, keeping the age ratings in mind.

Yes, you pick the game when booking — we set up the arena specifically for your group, so swapping on the spot usually isn't possible. Not sure what to pick? Write to us: we'll help you decide by age, group size and action level. We have team missions, action, adventures, family games and special formats for kids.

The briefing is in Portuguese or English — your choice. The games themselves have no language barrier: minimal text, everything intuitive. Perfect for tourists.

A team photo, the leaderboard, a link to the recording of your game's live stream, and a short team video shot on a phone — all included in the price. We send the link after the game; the recording stays available for up to 7 days, so save it within that time if you want to keep it forever.

A new VR format coming soon to the arena: up to 6 players per game, vibration vests that boost the feeling of presence, age 10+. Launch date, prices and details soon. Want to be the first to know? Message us "VEX" on WhatsApp.

02. Birthdays & Events

Birthday parties, corporate team-building, hen & stag dos — packages, food & drinks, decorations and prepayment terms

Yes, and we do it all the time. You book a private VR session and add the party room: first the game, then the party in a room with furniture, a mini-kitchen, a TV zone, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. We host birthdays for kids, teens and adults.

Birthday parties, corporate events and team buildings, hen and stag parties, private parties and big celebrations. VR works equally well for work colleagues and groups of friends: most guests put on a headset for the very first time — and that doesn't get in the way at all. Email info@vr-arena.pt with the occasion and guest count, and we'll build a tailored proposal.

The standard format lasts about 2.5 hours:

  • 30 minutes — we welcome your guests and help everyone get ready for the game;
  • 1 hour — the briefing and the game itself;
  • 1 hour — your private zone: hand out prizes to the best players, go over the results, raise a toast and chat in peace — the party continues with no strangers around.

As extras, you can add more game time and catering.

Perfectly — we celebrate 25ths and 45+ alike, and no gaming experience is needed. The script is the same: a private game, then the party in the party room; guests 18+ may bring their own alcohol for after the game. Tell us how many guests and we'll prepare a proposal.

  • Up to 6 kids — €240
  • Up to 12 kids — €360 (most popular)
  • Up to 18 kids — €540
  • Up to 24 kids — €720

Every package includes: a private room for 2.5 hours, 50 minutes of VR, an operator, the game recording and a team photo. Extras: more game time and catering.

They relax in the adults' zone: sofas, TV, a mini-kitchen and a coffee machine. You can follow the kids' game on the screens.

Yes — if you book a birthday party or a private event room, bring whatever you like. You can also order food delivery — just plan it for your room time. For regular sessions without a room, please don't bring food or drinks.

At adult private events (18+) you may bring your own alcohol — for the party room, after the VR game. Not before or during the game: VR is an active format where coordination and safety matter. The team may refuse to admit a guest to the game who appears intoxicated.

Yes — when you book the party room or a private room. We have a fridge; please bring your own plates, napkins, cutlery and a cake knife — serving is on the guests' side. Regular candles on the cake are fine. Party poppers, confetti, sparklers and any pyrotechnics are not allowed.

Yes. Use fixings that won't damage the walls or furniture — regular tape works. The room has equipment in it (PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, a TV zone), so decorations must be safe. Room setup happens within your booked time — build it into your plan.

Yes — we've hosted events with 100+ guests. The rooms are spacious and fit everyone, and the game part runs in rotation: while some play, the rest relax in the private zone and cheer their team on. For large groups we can spread different games across the rooms — it makes the event richer. Tell us the guest count, date and occasion, and we'll propose a format.

  • Confirmation: 48 hours to pay the 50% prepayment, otherwise the slot is released.
  • Group size: reductions at least 7 days in advance (confirmed unused places are non-refundable); increases any time, subject to availability. Every participant needs anti-slip socks.
  • Cancellation and rescheduling: more than 14 days before — full refund of the prepayment; 7–14 days — 50% retained; less than 7 days or no-show — 100% retained; date changes — by agreement.

These terms apply to private events and parties confirmed with a prepayment. Regular sessions paid online in full — see the "Bookings & payment" section.

03. Gift Vouchers

02

Buying a voucher, validity, transfer and refunds

Yes. Vouchers cover group game sessions and cost exactly the same as the session — the price is calculated by the number of players (from €35 per participant). The voucher arrives by email right after payment — a lifesaver even when the gift is needed today. Want to gift a birthday or another format? Write to us and we'll find a solution.

  • Validity: 12 months from the date of purchase.
  • Transfer: yes, via the unique code.
  • Refund: for online purchases, if the voucher hasn't been activated or used — 14 days to cancel with a full refund (Portuguese Decree-Law 24/2014).
  • Reactivation after expiry: within the following 6 months, at our discretion and subject to availability, for an additional 6 months, with a fee of up to 30% of the face value. After that the voucher lapses permanently.

04. Safety & Health

14

Is it safe for kids, motion sickness, contraindications, socks, glasses, what to wear and the gear we use

Children under 12 play only with a responsible adult present for the whole activity. For teens aged 12–17, a parent doesn't have to be on site, but consent is given by a parent or legal guardian — in the online form in advance, or on paper at reception. At parties and in groups, adults are responsible for the kids outside the game.

No: if an adult accompanies a child and doesn't play, there's nothing to pay for a player spot. In return, the chaperone stays nearby and is responsible for the kids outside the game and during the visit: the operator runs the VR session but doesn't replace a parent's supervision. Want to join the game? We'll add you as a player.

Any player can take off the headset and leave the game at any moment — safely. The operator is nearby for the whole session, and we explain to kids in advance: VR is a game, and the headset can always come off.

Usually not, or barely: because you move physically, your brain reads it more naturally than seated VR. If you're sensitive to motion sickness, tell the operator before the game — they'll keep an eye on you.

VR is an active format. Don't play if you have a condition where physical activity, intense visual effects or loss of balance could be unsafe: epilepsy or photosensitive seizures, serious cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled blood pressure, recent surgery or injuries to the head, neck or back, severe dizziness, balance disorders, a contagious illness, or being under the influence of alcohol or other substances. If you're pregnant or unsure about your health, consult your doctor before visiting.

If you have limitations in mobility, hearing, vision or balance, contact us before booking — we'll check which format suits you.

All players complete a registration form before the session — we send the link after booking (Buzzshot). The form includes the participation rules, the Terms & Conditions, the Privacy Policy and the health declaration. For every player under 18, the form is completed and consent given by a parent or legal guardian — online in advance or on paper at reception; players 18+ fill it in themselves. If you're booking for a group with minors, the person who made the booking collects the consents for all underage participants.

Use a real email or phone number — that's where the results, photos and materials go after the game. Fill it in ahead of time: everything on site goes much faster.

The game is built for free movement, and before the start we explain safe moves: keep your distance, no running, no jumping, no pushing. The operator is available throughout the session.

Normal wear and tear is on us — no need to stress. But damage caused by breaking the rules or the briefing (hitting the gear, removing equipment without permission and the like) is the guest's responsibility: compensation matches the repair or replacement cost. So it pays to listen to the operator and not take off the headset and controllers unnecessarily. For group bookings, the person who made the booking is responsible for damage.

All games are played without shoes and only in anti-slip socks — it's safer on the play surface and more hygienic for everyone. Bring your own or buy a pair at reception for €3. Without anti-slip socks we unfortunately can't admit you to the session — a rule with no exceptions.

Any comfortable clothes: VR is active — you'll walk, bend and crouch, so your outfit shouldn't restrict movement. Sportswear isn't required. We play without shoes, in anti-slip socks. If possible, avoid heavy makeup around the eyes — the headset sits against your face. Bags and coats go in the lockers.

Yes, in most cases glasses fit under the headset. Contact lenses are more comfortable, but not required.

  • Meta Quest 3 headsets and wireless controllers
  • Full body tracking: the system reads your height and hand movements — you interact with the world naturally, with your own hands
  • Disposable hygiene covers for every player
  • Before every session, the equipment is disinfected with a dedicated product

After the game you receive all the materials for personal use. Photos, videos and recordings may be used in line with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. If you don't want your image to appear in public materials, let us know in advance or tell the operator on site.

05. Bookings & Payment

09

How and when to book, prices, payment methods, invoices, cancellations and running late

  • more than 72 hours before the start — full refund;
  • 24–72 hours — 50% refund;
  • less than 24 hours or no-show — 100% retained;
  • rescheduling — at the venue's discretion, usually with 24 hours' notice.

Private events and parties have their own terms — see the "Birthdays & events" section.

Yes, if there are free slots — but no guarantee: sessions are private and the arena is prepared in advance. Booking is the safe bet, especially on weekends, holidays and for groups.

Bigger — contact us in advance: the team will help adjust the booking if there's room. Paying the difference on site is possible, but extra players depend on availability and the limits of the chosen game. Smaller — for regular sessions we'll try to adjust the number; let us know as early as you can. For private events and birthdays the guest count is fixed in advance: reductions at least 7 days before; confirmed unused places are non-refundable.

  • Regular session: online when booking, or on site once the slot is confirmed by the team.
  • Birthday or private event: a 50% prepayment within 48 hours of the pre-booking; the rest on the day of the event. If the prepayment isn't made in time, the slot is released.
  • Gift voucher: online at purchase.
  • Walk-in: on site, if a free slot is available.

Online payment, bank cards, cash, MB Way and Multibanco (Portuguese payment systems), and bank transfer.

Yes. When paying at reception, we'll ask if you'd like a fatura with your NIF (Portuguese tax number). If you pay online, send your billing details to info@vr-arena.pt — ideally right after payment — and we'll prepare the document.

Sessions run back to back, so we can't always extend the game if you're late: the team ends the session at the scheduled time so the next groups aren't delayed, and a delay of more than 15 minutes may mean a shortened or cancelled session without a refund. For group bookings, the session starts on time even if some guests are late — they join when they arrive. If you know you'll be late, try changing the booking online or call us: +351 919 777 900.

On top of the game itself, allow about 5 minutes for registration and 5 minutes for the briefing. For private events, arrive at the scheduled time: guest preparation is already built into the programme.

We don't have our own parking, but there's public parking nearby — the closest one on the map. Allow a few minutes to find a spot, especially on weekends and holidays.

There's a waiting area: a lounge with screens, a vending machine and a coffee machine. There's no dedicated changing room — comfortable everyday clothes are all you need to play; if necessary, you can use the bathroom. Bags and coats go in the lockers (provided as a courtesy; please keep valuables with you).
